If you’re after something a little different during your trip to Phoenix, the Asylum Escape Room Experience offered by The Room Escape Games might be worth considering. It’s not your average activity — here, you get to challenge your wits in a themed escape room, but with a twist: it’s a one-stop shop that caters to all ages and includes alcoholic beverages for those 21 and over.
While we haven’t personally done this experience, we’ve gathered enough details to give you a clear picture of what to expect.
What we really like about this offering is its family-friendly yet adult-appropriate atmosphere — something you don’t often find in escape rooms. Plus, the fact that it’s a mobile ticket makes planning straightforward, and the price point of $38 per person offers a good balance of fun and value.
On the flip side, a potential drawback is that alcoholic beverages are not included—you might want to plan to bring your own or purchase drinks separately if you’re looking to unwind with a drink after solving puzzles. This experience suits groups of friends, families, or even solo travelers who enjoy mental challenges with a bit of social drinking or simply want an engaging activity that’s different from typical sightseeing.

How the Experience is Structured
Your group will be led into a themed room where you’ll find a variety of props and locks. The goal is to work together — sharing clues, solving riddles, and unlocking different parts of the room — to reach the end and “escape” before time runs out.
The theme’s focus on an asylum makes for a dramatic backdrop, adding an element of suspense and intrigue. While the puzzles aren’t described as overly complex, they require teamwork, sharp thinking, and attention to detail. Expect a mix of physical tasks and mental challenges, all in a controlled, safe environment.
What’s Included and What’s Not
The tour package includes props, locks, and necessary tools—all ready for your team to use. The main extra cost is for alcoholic beverages, which are not included but can be purchased separately or brought along if you’re 21+. The experience is designed to be private, meaning only your group will participate, fostering a more intimate and less rushed atmosphere.
The Location and Accessibility
Meeting at 10210 W McDowell Rd in Avondale, the location is close to public transportation options, making it accessible if you’re staying in or near Phoenix. It’s a convenient spot for a quick getaway from city-center sightseeing, especially for those wanting a break from traditional tours.
The Price and Value
At $38 per person, the experience offers a cost-effective way to enjoy an hour of entertainment. For comparison, many escape rooms in larger cities tend to be more expensive, and some don’t include the thematic environment or adult beverages. Given the private setting and the themed experience, many travelers will find this a solid value, especially if you’re looking for a memorable, interactive activity rather than a passive attraction.
What We’ve Learned From Reviews
While the experience currently has no reviews, the description hints at a well-organized, immersive setting. Travelers interested in puzzles and themed adventures tend to appreciate a clean, thoughtfully designed environment. The mention of props and locks suggests attention to detail, which can make or break an escape room.
Some reviews from similar experiences highlight the importance of group coordination and timely communication. Since this is a private activity, you’ll have the chance to work closely with friends or family, which is often where escape rooms shine — building camaraderie and teamwork.
