The two "Parterres d'Eau" show up as an expansion of the exterior of the palace. This set did not get its last structure until 1685. It was planned and achieved by Charles Le Brun: each basin is decorated with four recumbent statues depicting the rivers and streams of France. : La Loire et le Loiret, Le Rhône et la Saône, La Seine et la Marne, La Garonne et la Dordogne, in addition to four fairies and four groups of kids.
