 Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Striving to achieve its stated goal of a world-class research facility, this research base is a non-profit research and breeding place for Pandas and other endangered species in the world. It is located in the Sichuan province of China in Chengdu city and was established in 1987. It has partnerships in matters of research and breeding with notable societies and science institutions all over the world, including famous zoos such as San Diego, Edinburgh, and Toronto Zoos. It now has a captive Panda population of around 83.

2. The Chengdu Wuhou Shrine - Chengdu

The Chengdu Wuhou Shrine

Better known as the Wuhou temple, it is the shrine of Marquis Wu of the Kingdom of Shu. One of the noblest men in the history of China, his temple itself is a majestic place. This temple is situated in the southern suburb of Chengdu and spreads over an area of 37km square. Like many historical places in China, its five portions have clay sculptures of Shu emperor and his ministers. The most notable and famous feature of this place is the 367 centimeter tall Triple-Success Stele.

3. Du Fu Thatched Cottage - Chengdu

Du Fu Thatched Cottage

Raised in the honor of famous Chinese poet of the Tang dynasty, Du Fu, this place is a park and museum stretching over 97 kilometers. It was declared a national heritage site by Chinese government in 1961. Historically it was just a thatched hut made by Du Fu when he moved in the place and wrote many of his poems. Though it was destroyed but with the passage of time and as tribute to Du Fu’s legacy, it was later raised during the Ming dynasty. This key memoir of Chinese history is a major tourist attraction.
