Striving to achieve its stated goal of a world-class research facility, this research base is a non-profit research and breeding place for Pandas and other endangered species in the world. It is located in the Sichuan province of China in Chengdu city and was established in 1987. It has partnerships in matters of research and breeding with notable societies and science institutions all over the world, including famous zoos such as San Diego, Edinburgh, and Toronto Zoos. It now has a captive Panda population of around 83.
