This beautiful site is in actual, an artificially constructed archipelago, within the U.A.E., which was created by Nakheel through the process of land reclamation. The project was designed by the architects of the Helman Hurley Charvat Peacock Company. It is just one of the original three planned palm islands, which were to increase the actual shoreline of the city as per the original plan. The Palm Jumeirah or Nakhlat Jumeirah is the most original and also the smallest of the 3 Palm islands which are under development. The location of this masterpiece is the coastal area of Jumeirah. The work on the project was initiated in 2001 and the first units were handed over in 2006. In 2007, the island was recognized as one of the largest artificial islands. A number of hotels and resorts have been opened on the crescent of the Palm Island along with many residential units. Originally termed as one of the 8 wonders of the world, the stylized palm tree was indeed the first unique offshore development to be done. One great feature of the island is the Palm Jumeirah Monorail, which is a 5.4 km long monorail that connects the Gateway Towers constructed at the foot of the island to the ever famous and exotic Atlantis Hotel.
