The Bâtiment des Forces Motrices, or the BFM as it is more commonly referred to, is one of those buildings that can be defined as ‘imposing’. There is nothing technically imposing about the building, but the design seems to evoke the look of a workplace, rather than a theatre. The reason it feels that way is because that is the true history of the BMF; it was built as an industrial site which could reroute the Rhone River so that water could be used for fountains and sanitation. Thus the original design of the building is not artistic, it is however still a great looking building. If you are in Geneva, we would highly recommend adding the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices to your things to do list. Even if there isn’t an event scheduled, it is a very interesting construction to look at. We would recommend checking out the program online before you set a date for your visit. You can see many different types of performances in this theatre including opera, ballet, comedy, and much more.more
