2. Xidi village - Huangshan

A charming historical village located at the south foot of the Mount Huangshan, the village retains the classical appearance of the dynastic era. The houses were originally built with what are called ‘fire walls’ to prevent against catastrophe that fires cause, and are the reason the houses still stand as they once were today. The village was made part of the World Heritage list for its historic and artistic value. One can also stroll in the countryside that surrounds the village.

The village lay out was so well preserved that UNESCO placed Hongcun in its list of world heritage sites.
