Iles du Salut

The Îles du Salut are a group of small islands that are located about 14 km north of Kourou off the coast of French Guiana in the Atlantic Ocean. Although the islands are close to the commune of Kourou, they form part of the Cayenne commune. Also known as Islands of Salvation, Îles du Salut is comprised of three islands that include Île du Diable, Île Royale, and le Saint-Josep. You can find lots of interesting things to do in Îles du Salut. The stunning tropical islands have an interesting colonial history. The three islands were part of a notorious penal colony where the French confined the worst criminals. Ruins of the prison facilities located in the islands certainly look eerie but are interesting. The tropical islands are certainly scenic with lush green landscape. A visit to the island is certainly worth it as you can enjoy many interesting things to do in Îles du Salut. Here you can find a hotel, a museum, and even a good restaurant. You can also take part in water activities including snorkeling, boating, and swimming. Overall, this is a great place to visit in French Guiana where you can create wonderful memories to relive later in life.
