The Estrela Basilica has the distinction of being the first ever church in world history to be duly dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The church has been constructed with the architectural style of a huge building having a large dome and is built within a hill. Around the time that the basilica was made, the hill was in the western section of Lisbon. It can be seen from afar. The architectural style and design of the church is quite similar to that of the Mafra National Palace, and is a perfect specimen of neoclassical and Baroque architecture. The front of the building has 2 bell towers, which include some statues of saints. There are also other allegoric figures in them. The floor and walls have been decorated with yellow, pink and grey marble, featuring different geometric patterns, making it a most beautiful church in all of Europe. Beautiful paintings and statues are a sight for tourists and a great attraction for all.

Our favorite coach in the collection was one which had belonged to King Philip II of Portugal and had been used by him when travelling to Portugal from Spain. The coach is luxurious and beautiful. There are several other coaches which look downright gaudy due to the display of luxury. The museum contains carriages from many different parts of the world.
