1. Forest Park - Springfield

Forest Park is one of the largest urban recreational parks in the United States. With a lot of things to do in Massachusetts, visiting this park should be added to your list of places to visit in Springfield. Covering an area of 735 hectares of land, it is impossible for a person not to find things to do in Forest Park. Among the many attractions available in the Park, The Zoo in Forest Park is a beautiful place to visit with your children. The zoo features several large cats, monkeys and bears. The Zoo is not just about animals, it also has several playgrounds for that perfect Sunday Barbeque or just playing on the swings provided. Other areas for sports activities include Porter Lake, which is an ice skating rink along with a lot of baseball fields and grandstand for the audience watching the games. Several Lawn game areas are also available like, lawn bowling courts, Grass Tennis courts and Basketball courts. The Park also features gardens to help you relax. 3. Springfield Armory - Springfield

The Armory was the primary center responsible for the production of the firearms of the United States Military forces. The armory operated from 1777 to the year 1968 when it closed down. The armory is now preserved as a historic site and acts as a museum for many people to visit and learn about the history of Arms and Ammunitions in the United States. The historical site is open for public visiting from 9am to 5pm and houses a large collection of guns and melee weapons. The Springfield armory is also the creators of the famed Springfield Rifle used widely by the United States military in World War2. 4. Chicopee Memorial State Park - Springfield

Formerly known as the Cooley Brook Reservoir and Watershed the memorial park spreads over 575 acres of land. Thinking about different things to do in Massachusetts? Feel like taking a dip inside, you’re most welcome to have a nice soak. Restricted fishing is also allowed. Other facilities include a bathhouse and restrooms. Another very important feature of the park is the trails that are made especially for people who want to hike or go mountain biking. Cross country skiing is also available and the tracks are sometimes used by high schools for coaching students participating in the cross-country races. Located south east of the Westover Air Reserve Base and some of the base is visible from specific parts of the park. 5. Quadrangle - Springfield

The Quadrangle is a collective name given to the cluster of museums and cultural centers present in the Springfield Metropolitan area. Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden, A Museum commemorating the world renowned Dr. Seuss and sculptures dedicated to his illustrations.
