1. Bwabwata National Park - Zambezi

Bwabwata National Park

The Bwabwata National Park is located in northeast Namibia, created from the famous Mahango Game Reserve and the Caprivi Game Park. Established in 2007, Bwabwata National Park is nestled on an area of 2,422 square miles and is an important route for migrating African elephants and other game species to Angola. The Bwabwata National Park has a population of nearly 5,500 people who are involved in the planning and management of the park by the government of Namibia. The park runs 40 kilometers from north to south and 190 kilometers from east to west. Bwabwata National Parkis based on both the Kavango and Caprivi regions while also extending towards Caprivi Strip. The Bwabwata National Park is bounded by Kwando River to the east and Okavango River to the west, while bordering Angola to the north and Botswana to the south. On either ends of the Bwabwata National Park, small settlements of Divundu and Kongola are based where you can get guided tours of the park in an all-wheel drive vehicle. Travelers can easily get a permit for off road exploration, whereas if you want to take an aerial tour, they are available from the Mahango Game Reserve. The Kwando, Mahango, and Buffalo area are reserved for tourism and trophy hunting.

2. Katima Mulilo - Zambezi

Katima Mulilo is the capital city of the Zambezi Region in the northeast extension of Namibia and central Southern Africa. Katima Mulilo is located on the banks of the Zambezi River and is known for its lush green vegetation, tropical birds, and exotic wildlife. Katima Mulilo receives an annual rainfall of 25.7 on average and is known for its pleasant weather patterns. The nearest village to Katima Mulilo is Bukao which lies 40 kilometers to the east, whereas the nearest Namibian city is Rundu which is about 500 kilometers to the east. The Radio Mast, one of the tallest structures in the country, in located in Katima Mulilo and stands at 230 meters tall. Katima Mulilo became the administrative centre of Caprivi Strip in 1935. It has been a popular holiday and tourist destination since the 1950s. Guided tours of the wildlife, flora, fauna, bird sighting, and key historic places in the city are also readily available from downtown Katima Mulilo. As of today, Katima Mulilo is known for its distinct heritage, culture, and population featuring members of the Mafwe and Masubia tribes as well as people of German ancestry. Guided tours to the river basins are available that let you explore an exotic paradise in a secluded part of the country!
