1. Loorenkopf - Zurich

If you want a spectacular view of the Swiss countryside, climbing to the top of the wood lattice tower called Loorenkopf tower will do the trick. The best news is that the tower is owned by the government of Zurich that has allowed open access to it for the masses. The massive 33 meter high tower attracts visitors in droves and particularly those who wish to get a bird’s eye view of the terrain. The only thing to do in Loorenkopf is to climb the 153 steps that can take you to the top and to the aforementioned view. The tower is located right between a forest giving the location a fairytale like quality that is hard to ignore. If you happen to climb it on a clear day you will be able to see the snow capped Eiger and Jungfrau which are the main summits of the Bernese Alps. Once you have had your fill of the magnificent view from up top and do not have anything to do in Loorenkopf other than climb down, visit the Zoologischere Garten which is located nearby. The zoo features 2200 animals and is a joy for families and groups of friends traveling together. If you are lucky you might get to see the cute penguin parade which is performed almost on a daily basis if temperatures are low enough.
