What the Holly Jolly Hunt in Clearwater Offers

This holiday-themed scavenger hunt is hosted via a mobile app, making it a flexible, modern way to celebrate the season. Unlike traditional scavenger hunts that rely on paper lists, this experience leverages technology, allowing you to explore anywhere you choose in Clearwater—be it along the bustling Pier 60, through charming neighborhoods, or near scenic parks.

At its core, the Holly Jolly Hunt challenges you to find holiday-related items, some traditional like Christmas trees or ornaments, and others more unconventional—perhaps a festive street mural or a local holiday display. The app prompts you to take photos of these items, which then score points for your team. This is a clever way to ensure active participation and create visual souvenirs of your holiday adventure.

The Challenges and How They Work

What makes this hunt particularly lively are the holiday challenges. These might include silly tasks like singing a holiday song in public or performing a quick jingle bell dance—adding a splash of laughter to your outing. The app’s leaderboard feature is a nice touch, letting you see how your team stacks up against others. This friendly competition can turn even a casual walk into a spirited contest.

From reviews, we see that these challenges are a highlight, with one participant noting that “performing fun holiday tasks really brought everyone together and added a lot of laughs.” The mix of photo scavenging and challenges keeps the activity energetic and avoids the monotony of just walking around.

Meeting Point and Duration

The tour begins at Pier 60 Park on Causeway Blvd, a lively hub for locals and travelers alike. It’s a logical starting point, close to parking and public transit options. The activity lasts approximately one hour, making it a manageable addition to a day of sightseeing or holiday shopping.

Since the activity ends back at the same meeting point, it’s easy to plan other activities around it. The timing window from late November through the end of December allows for flexible participation during the holiday season, whether you’re visiting during a weekend or a weekday.

What’s Included and Not Included

For its modest price of $20 per group (up to 10 people), the Holly Jolly Hunt includes access to a remote guide via chat, all scavenger hunt activities, and all fees and taxes. This transparency is helpful, as there are no hidden costs for the activity itself.

However, you’ll need to bring your own smartphone—the app is key to participating—and there’s no mention of transportation being included, so you’ll want to plan how you’ll move between locations. For those without a vehicle, being near public transit is a bonus.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Experience

To maximize your fun, make sure everyone in your group has a charged smartphone with data access. Since the activity is private—only your group participates—you won’t be competing against strangers, which helps keep the focus on your team’s enjoyment rather than friendly rivalry.

It’s also worth noting that service animals are permitted, so if you travel with a furry friend, they can tag along as you hunt. The flexible start times from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM give you plenty of room to fit this into your day.
