The Camposanto Monumentale (Campo Santo) or the burial ground is a standout amongst the most significant chronicled structure, situated in the northern side of the Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa.
The Campo Santo is otherwise called the "sacred field", by virtue of its chronicled legend of having been based upon the dirt brought from Golgotha. The Golgotha was a site rumored to be found ideal outside the dividers of Jerusalem, where the Christ was executed. The sacrosanct soil was brought from Golgotha during the Fourth Crusade in the twelfth century.
