Batroun is a city in the northern coast of Lebanon and is considered one of the oldest in the country. It is the capital of the Batroun District and a popular tourist destination with the Phoenician wall as the main attraction. The town is itself a beach resort and is well known for comprising of some of the most pristine pebble beaches in the country along with an exciting nightlife in well equipped pubs and clubs. The town also features a ring of citrus trees that have surrounded it since the 20th century along with the fresh lemonade that is sold from their sour produce in restaurants. The city was once a very important Phoenician city and is particularly well known for its marine wall called the Phoenician Wall that protects it from tidal waves. Most historians are of the opinion that the wall used to be a natural structure made from naturally occurring petrified sand dunes. The structure was strengthened by the Phoenicians with more rocks until it took the shape that is still standing to this day. Measuring 225 meters in height and 1.5 meters thick, the wall has not stood the test of time as well. Parts of it have crumbled but it is still a must see if you want to catch a glimpse of Lebanon’s past.
अधिकIt is a Greek Orthodox Church in Batroun (Saydet al Bahr) on the seashore along the Phoenician Wall called the Our Lady of the Sea. Underneath the Church Byzantine ruins were found that go back to the 19th century. The Our Lady of the Sea Church is a blessing of the ocean and is a must visit.
अधिकOne of the biggest churches for Maronites in Lebanon, it overlooks the town harbor, this is one of the largest Maronite churches in Lebanon. It's architecture is a mixed Roman-Byzantine and it was built on the site of an older church around 1910.
अधिकThe old port of Batroun is a historic part of Batroun located next to the St.Stephan cathedral and the old souks. This old port offers visitors an access to a very beautiful and peaceful walk. The old port is also a fishing position for all batroun population.

अधिकIt is a Souk (marketplace) built out of Batroun sandstone with ribbed or semi-circular vaults. It is made up of several old streets and is one of Lebanon's most remarkable marketplace in which some old crafts are still practiced by tailors, cobblers and blacksmiths.
अधिकLike the other coastal towns of Lebanon, Batroun takes pride in its beaches. The batroun beach is located 50 km North of the capital Beirut and boasts the least polluted waters in Lebanon. Tourism is very important in Batroun, which is known for its beaches where all kinds of sports are practiced such as water skiing, surfing, sailing and fishing, and where a wide variety of seafood items are served.
