Where is Burundi?

A lot of people wonder where is Burundi. A country in East Africa, Burundi shares its borders with Congo, Rwanda, and Tanzania. The country covers an area of 27,834km² with a total population of 8.7 million. The earliest people who inhabited the place were the Twa, whereas the main groups currently in the area are known as the Hutu and Tutsi. The country was occupied by different countries that include Belgium and Germany and Rwanda and Burundi were made into a single European colony known as Ruanda-Urundi in the beginning of the 20th century. The country finally gained independence in the year 1962.

The climate of the country can be classified as tropical highland, where the temperature ranges according to the altitude. Rainfall in the country is irregular, and the country experiences its rainfall from September to November and from February to May. The country has sixteen provinces: Ruyigi, Rutana, Ngozi, Mwaro, Muyinga, Muramvya, Makamba,Kirundo, Kayanza,Karuzi, Cibitoke, Gitega, Cankuzo, Bururi, Bujumbura Rural, Bujumbura Mairie, and the Bubanza. The main cities of the country include Ngozi, Muyinga, Gitega, Cibitoke, Bururi, and the Bujumbura.
