Where is Liberia?

Liberia is a country that is located on the western coast of Africa. The country shares borders with Guinea to the north, Sierra Leone to the west, and Ivory Coast to the east. To the southwest of the country we have the North Atlantic Ocean.
The area where is Liberia situated is divided into fifteen counties that are subdivided into ninety districts. Landscape of the region features mangroves, coastal plains, and swamps that rise to plateau and rolling mountains towards the northeast. The country has a rich biodiversity most of which are considered endangered species. It contains a few living populations of certain species such as forest elephants, western chimpanzees, and leopards.

Visitors can find a number of things to do and interesting places to visit in Liberia. Most popular beaches in the area are located near Robertsport, an area frequented by surfers. The beaches near Monrovia are also a popular among the tourists. Most of the beaches have strong rivers that are not suitable for swimming but some of them including Silver, ELWA, and Cece Beaches are have calm waters making them safe for taking dips in the water.

Another great tourist attraction located where is Liberia is the Mount Wologizi, which is the highest point in the country. Visitors can access the mountain by taking the road at the nearby village of Lisco. Climbing the mountain trail serves as a scenic adventure on its own as it goes past a series of sloping hills and waterfalls all the way to the summit. From the top of the mountain, apart from unmapped tropical forests, you can view three countries at the same time: Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea.

Monrovia is one of the most exciting places to visit in Liberia. The rivers cascade through a forested area ending in the mangroves located nearby. To cross the fast running rivers, you have to cross a 'monkey bridge' made of natural vines that are rewoven every year by the locals. You can find different urban attractions in the city of Monrovia including museum, sushi bars, supermarkets, and waterside cloth market.

Sapo National Park in Liberia is also a great site that is located about 11 hours from Monrovia. But the visit is well worth it in the end as here you can see one of the highest concentrations of land animals in the world.
