Where is Martinique?

Martinique is an overseas territory of France that is located in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It is one of the Windward Islands with Saint Lucia to the north, Barbados to the northwest, and Dominica to the south. If you ask where is Martinique located, the answer to that is simple. It is to the southeast of the Dominican Republic and the northeast of South America.

Harbours of the city have become a popular place for scuba diving where visitors can explore remains of several ships that were wrecked due to tidal waves that followed the eruption of Mount Pelée.

The Balata Botanical Gardens or Jardin de Balata is one of the most interesting places to visit in Martinique. This garden is located near the city of Fort-de-France. Here you can find above 3,000 species of fauna in addition to beautiful ponds filled with lotus blossoms and water lilies.

You can find adventurous hiking trails in the area. The trails will lead you through rugged coastal scenery, majestic waterfalls, and tropical forests. You can ride the horses along the long stretches of sandy beaches filled with palm trees. A number of people come to the beaches to feast on local Creole and French cuisine in the tropical setting.
