Where is Nigeria? The country is located in the Western part of Africa and Lagos is its largest city. It covers a total land area of more than 920,000 square km, which makes it the 32nd largest country in the world. However, it has a relatively smaller coastline of about 853 km. Some of the best places to visit in Nigeria have made it a prime tourist hub.
The Millennium Park in Abuja is a must visit for those who love Mother Nature. The park was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth II herself and is the largest public park in the area. It also boasts a very nice walkway complete with fountains and lighting that make the area come alive at night. It was actually designed by an Italian architect called Manfredi Nicoletti and has become one of Abuja’s main attractions in Nigeria.
You can often see visitors walking their dogs along the walkway or enjoying a picnic on the verdant lawns with family. Evenings are especially beautiful when the lights come on and offer a perfect setting for a romantic stroll. You can find the entrance off the Three Arm Zone road and there is also a river running through the centre surrounding the woodland. It starts in the hills, which are located at a distance from the Millennium Park.
Besides this park, the Cross River National Park is also a must visit during a trip to Nigeria. The park is an integral part of the conserved rainforest in the area and is located in Boki LGA. It stretches from Kanyan to the Obudu Plateau boasting a total land area of more than 700 square kilometers. The park is divided into two sections with the smaller part located in the northeast and which is also separated by a forest. The terrain is rough and the sand can get shallow with elevation so it would be a good idea to pack some good hiking shoes if you plan a visit there.
These were just some of the places to visit in Nigeria. So where is Nigeria in your travel plans? Whether you are a nature lover or love to travel in general in search of some of the wonders of the world, you will not be bored with a trip to this country that’s for sure.
