Where is Playa Del Carmen?


A lot of people want to know where is Playa del Carmen. It is a city in Mexico, which is located in the state of Quintana Roo. The place is very exotic, as it is near the Riviera Maya. Initially, it was a small fishing town, but today it is one of the most famous tourist spots in the world, where people go for scuba diving. The city is well-developed, and has several shopping malls, restaurants, and hotels.

Playa was initially home to the Mayans, and later turned into a fishing port. With time, the ports of Veracruz and Honduras were developed, which added to city’s popularity. The place became a part of Mexico in the 1900’s, whereas it gained popularity in 1960s, when a documentary was shot in the area, which talked about the second biggest reef system in the world. It was almost a decade later that the airport and docks were built, which allowed easy accessibility of the area to tourists, which became a source of income for many locals.

So the question is where is Playa del Carmen exactly located? It is situated on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, and is about 70 km away from Cancun, and around 65 km from Tulum. In order to get to the city, you can travel by plane to the Cancún International Airport. There are several bus stations too where buses run after every half an hour. In order to travel inside the city, you can travel by car and can even take a boat. Since the place is extremely safe, a lot of tourists like to travel by foot.

There are several tourist attractions in Playa. If you like water sports, then you can go for snorkeling at the Hidden World Cenotos, and can even checkout the beautiful underwater caves. Other than this, you can enjoy fishing and scuba diving.
