41. Opera Bastille - Paris

Located near the heart of Paris, Opera Bastille is a modern opera house that bears the look of a new era building yet the insides bring back the classic renaissance times. It is the main facility of the Paris National Opera. It holds Ballets and Symphony orchestras with a seating capacity of over 2700 people. The building consists of three main parts for tourists to make memories in; a concert hall, the main theatre, and a studio theatre. It is the must visit place for lovers of art and culture.

42. Musée d'Histoire Naturelle - Paris

Musee d’histoire Naturelle (also known as the Museum of Natural History) is not a single museum. It is instead a collection of museums all over France, all sharing the same field o interest. 4 of the sites are in Paris and each of them is worth a visit. The Garden of Plans is a treat for anyone with a botanical interest. It was established in 1635, and houses an impressive collection of native and exotic plants. You will see varieties of plants and flowers you did not even know exist. The Grand Gallery of Evolution is a great educational museum, where one can learn all about evolution. The larger than life displays are beautiful, and the collection of other specimens is impressive to say the least. You will learn about how humans and other animals evolved. The GALLERY OF MINERALOGY AND GEOLOGY is just as fascinating for all mineral enthusiasts. This museum has some of the most prestigious and rare minerals in the world. The most surprising thing is how visually impressive the specimens are, most of them multi-colored. The Children's Gallery is aimed for children aged 6-12. It presents natural history in a simple and easy to understand manner.

43. Musée d’Art Moderne - Paris

Sometimes it feels like Paris is a museum itself, showcasing one of the most beautifully constructed cities of the past few centuries. Musee d’Art Moderne is one of the many museums in Paris; though its subject matter differentiates it from every other art museum in Paris. Founded in 1961, the museum is about modern art. So after all the great art in other museums dating back hundreds of years, this is a great palate cleanser. It is very refreshing to enter Musee d’Art Moderne and be hit with art unlike any you have seen in the city. The sense of difference begins before you ever enter the museum; the sculpture outside tells you that this museum is going to be different. While there are some absolutely great modern classics in this museum, like Picasso, you will also see new art. The museum is very active, and has paintings from this year as well. Thus you get to see where current art is headed, and what art forms are being employed by our current artists. So not only do you get to see some classics, you get to see some future classics as well.

44. Picasso Museum - Paris

As suggested by the name, Museu Picasso exhibits 4,251 artworks of the renowned artist Pablo Picasso and is revered as the most complete, permanent collection of Picasso’s works. The government of Catalonia has declared it a museum of national interest. Located in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, Museu Picasso is situated on Montcada Street in La Ribera along with five other medieval palaces. The most notable works of Picasso including The First Communion and Science and Charity are the highlights of the collections at this majestic place.

45. Eglise Saint Sulpice - Paris

Eglise Saint Sulpice is one of our favorite underrated places in Paris. While it enjoyed brief popularity due to a mention in the bestseller Da Vinci Code, it is skipped by too many tourists. It is a mistake to do so as this church has a simplistic beauty one finds in very few places. This is one of the largest churches in Paris, second only to the Notre Dame. The exterior of Eglise Saint Sulpice is beautiful, but it is nothing compared to the grand interior. You will be surprised once you enter the building, as the front facade doesn't really communicate the grandeur of the interior. The Dome of the Lady Chapel is breathtaking, and so are the murals. Even the church organ is grand. Classical music enthusiasts come here just to be able to witness in action, as it is considered one of the most impressive such instruments in the world. Da Vinci Code used this church as a setting for some important chapters, and tourists flocked to the church to see the things mentioned in the book. It became so problematic that Eglise Saint Sulpice officials printed a notice in English and hung it in the church, clarifying that the things mentioned in the book were mere fiction.

46. Parc des Buttes Chaumont - Paris

Paris has some of the finest parks in the world, and Parc des Buttes Chaumont is no different. The 5th largest park in Paris, It was opened to the public in 1867 during the times of Napoleon III. The park is liked by locals since it isn't bustling with tourists all the time. It is a perfect place to go to if you are tired of being in crowds, and want a relaxing few hours. The park has many features which makes it a joy to visit. The caves and the rocks are excellent. There are many trees and plants here which are hard to find anywhere else, and they make the park look beautiful. The park is also very easy to visit, with 2 nearby metro stations. If you are feeling overwhelmed with all the art and history, then take a few hours off and let your brain go to its happy place in this park. It is also a great place to go with your family. There is entertainment for children, and you can also get food and eat inside the park. The park is also undergoing renovations, and we can only expect it to get better in 2016, when the renovations are completed.

47. Parc de Bagatelle - Paris

Parc de Bagatelle is a great botanical garden, with a fantastic origin story. The story starts in 1775 with a bet. King Charles X, who was Count of Artois at the time, was close friends with Marie Antoinette, his sister-in-law. She bet him that a palace couldn't be constructed in the area in less than 3 months and King Charles X took her up on the offer. His architect managed to complete the task in just 64 days, winning the bet. The name itself is funny. Parc de Bagatelle isn't really a fair name, as bagatelle means something of little importance. The park, however, is one of the 4 important botanical gardens found in Paris. The area of the garden was increased to become the great park that exists today. You will be enchanted by the peaceful scenery, and the beautiful plants on display. It really is a joy to walk through these gardens. If you are in Paris for a romantic trip or family outing then this is the perfect place to visit. If you are visiting Paris alone, then let music be your guide. Put in the ear buds, put on a beautiful song, and enjoy a relaxing trip.

48. Ile Saint-Louis - Paris

If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of a city filled with tourists then Ile Saint-Louis is the perfect place for you to visit. It is one of the 2 islands on the Seine River (the other one being Île de la Cité), and it is a great place to experience the things to do in Paris of the 17th century. It was named after King Louis IX. The thing which differentiates Ile Saint-Louis from the rest of Paris, is that it is one of the first places made through proper urban planning. The place thus feels completely different from the other historical places, because you can easily see how it is laid out. What makes it even better is that there are only narrow one way streets on the island. There is no metro, or bus stations here. That might seem like it would be a problem but it isn't. The lack of public transportation only means that Ile Saint-Louis was made with pedestrians in mind. Thus you can easily walk to places, and the lack of traffic lets you enjoy the beautiful scenery around you. There are some good cafes and restaurants here which you should definitely visit.

49. Paris Catacombs - Paris

Also known as Catacombes de Paris, these underground ossuaries are part of 18th century history of Paris which still attract all tourists. It is said that these catacombs contain remains of some six million people and are part of the 14 other museums taken care of by Paris Musees. Located in the south of Paris, the surface access to this tunnel complex is from a building at Place Denfert-Rochereau. Due to the significantly high number of remains that they have, these catacombs are also referred by some as the largest grave in the world.
