I looked down through the glass floor and my knees buckled. Two hundred meters below, tiny cars crawled along Sheikh Zayed Road. My brain knew the glass was solid. My legs disagreed.
That’s Sky Views Observatory — Dubai’s second-most-terrifying viewing experience after the Burj Khalifa. And at $24, it’s nearly half the price.

Dubai has three major observation decks beyond the Burj Khalifa, and two of them deserve your time. The View at the Palm gives you a coastal panorama you can’t get anywhere else. Sky Views gives you a glass-floor adrenaline rush at a bargain price.

The View at the Palm — Dubai’s Coastal Observatory
The View at the Palm sits at the top of The Palm Tower — a 52-floor building at the heart of Palm Jumeirah. At 240 meters, it’s not the tallest observation deck in Dubai. But the view is unique because it’s the only one that looks DOWN at the Palm’s iconic palm-tree shape.

What You’ll See
The Palm Jumeirah spread out below you. The trunk, the fronds, the crescent breakwater, and Atlantis at the tip. This is the view that makes the Palm famous — the aerial perspective that shows the engineering achievement in full.
Dubai Marina and JBR to the east. The glass towers of the marina district catch the light and reflect the sky. On a clear day, you can count individual yachts in the marina.

The Arabian Gulf stretching to the horizon. The coastline curves away in both directions. You can see the Burj Al Arab to the south and the port of Jebel Ali to the west. The contrast between blue water and desert sand behind the city is striking.

The View at the Palm Observatory Entry Ticket — $29

The standard ticket gives you access to the observation deck on the 52nd floor, the viewing terrace, and the multimedia experience on the way up. The elevator ride includes a projection show about the Palm’s construction — it’s short but impressive.
At $29, this is the best value observation deck in Dubai. The Burj Khalifa starts at $43, and while it’s higher, it can’t show you the Palm from above. These are complementary views, not competing ones. Read our full review of The View at the Palm.
Sky Views Observatory — The Adrenaline Deck
Sky Views is located in the Address Sky View Hotel, connected to the Dubai Mall area by a walkway. At 220 meters, it’s lower than the Burj Khalifa but offers something the Burj doesn’t — a glass floor walkway, a glass slide between floors, and an outdoor edge walk.

The Three Experiences
The Observatory ($24): Floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai, and the canal. The glass floor section is included — a transparent panel you can stand on and look straight down 220 meters. It’s the cheapest way to get a vertigo rush in Dubai.

The Glass Slide ($extra): A transparent tube slide connecting the 53rd and 52nd floors — on the outside of the building. You slide through clear glass with the city visible all around you. It lasts about 10 seconds. Those 10 seconds will stay with you.
The Edge Walk ($extra): An outdoor walk on a ledge around the outside of the building, harnessed and guided. This is the premium experience — you lean out over the edge at 220 meters with nothing but a safety harness between you and gravity. Not for everyone. Absolutely unforgettable for those who do it.

Sky Views Observatory Ticket — $24

At $24, this is the cheapest observation deck in Dubai. The base ticket includes the observatory and glass floor. The glass slide and edge walk are optional add-ons that boost the price but also boost the adrenaline significantly.
The location is perfect for combining with the Burj Khalifa — the Address Sky View Hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Dubai Mall entrance. Do Sky Views in the morning and the Burj Khalifa in the afternoon for the ultimate Dubai heights day. See our full review of Sky Views Observatory.
The Dubai Frame — The Budget Option
The Dubai Frame deserves a mention even though it’s not one of the main two. At $14, it’s the cheapest observation experience in the city. The 150-meter-tall golden frame stands in Zabeel Park and offers a unique perspective — Old Dubai on one side, New Dubai on the other.

The glass floor on the Frame’s bridge walkway at 150 meters is a gentler version of Sky Views’ glass experience. Less terrifying, more scenic. It’s a good option if heights make you nervous but you still want to look down.
The Frame also has the best ground-level approach. Zabeel Park surrounds it with greenery, fountains, and walking paths. Arrive early, walk the park, then go up. The whole experience takes about an hour.

Which Observation Deck Should You Choose?
Dubai has four major observation experiences. Here’s how they compare.

Burj Khalifa ($43-$209): The highest and most famous. Best for the “I was there” experience and the broadest panorama. See our Burj Khalifa tickets guide.
The View at the Palm ($29): The coastal specialist. The only place to see the Palm Jumeirah from above. Best for beach lovers and architecture fans.
Sky Views ($24): The adrenaline pick. Glass floors, glass slides, edge walks. Best for thrill-seekers on a budget.
Dubai Frame ($14): The value champion. A giant picture frame that shows Old Dubai on one side and New Dubai on the other. The cheapest observation experience in the city.

Practical Tips
Book online for both. Walk-up queues at The View can be 30+ minutes during peak times. Sky Views is less crowded but online booking guarantees your time slot.
Visit The View at sunset. The Palm catches the evening light beautifully. The west-facing orientation means you watch the sun drop into the Gulf while the skyline behind you lights up. It’s the best sunset viewing spot in Dubai.
Visit Sky Views in the morning. The glass floor is more dramatic in bright daylight when you can see clearly to the ground. The morning light on the Burj Khalifa from this angle is spectacular.

Allow 45-60 minutes per deck. You don’t need more. Both are single-floor experiences with good but compact viewing areas. The exception is Sky Views if you add the glass slide and edge walk — budget 90 minutes for the full package.
Photography is excellent at both. The glass is clean and anti-reflective. Phones work perfectly. For night photos, press your lens against the glass to eliminate reflections.

Combo Tickets — Can You Save Money?
Several combo tickets bundle observation decks with other attractions. The Burj Khalifa + Sky Views combo ($81) saves about $10 versus buying separately. It’s worth checking availability if you’re planning both.
The Go Dubai pass and iVenture card sometimes include observation deck entries at discounted rates. Check current availability — these passes rotate which attractions they include. If you’re visiting 4+ paid attractions, a pass usually saves 20-30% overall.
Children under 4 enter free at both observation decks. Children aged 4-12 get discounted tickets. Family bundles are sometimes available on GetYourGuide — worth checking if you’re traveling with kids.

Getting There
The View at the Palm: Take the Palm Monorail from Gateway station to The Pointe station, then walk 5 minutes to The Palm Tower. Or taxi directly — ask for “The View at the Palm, Palm Tower.” About $15-$20 from central Dubai.
Sky Views: Walk from the Dubai Mall metro station or Burj Khalifa area. The Address Sky View Hotel is connected to the Downtown district by a pedestrian bridge. Or taxi — ask for “Address Sky View Hotel.” About $10 from most central hotels.
What Else to Do in Dubai

Pair these observation decks with the rest of Dubai’s best. The desert safari gives you the ground-level perspective — sand dunes and starlight instead of glass floors and skylines. The yacht cruises show you the same coastline from water level.
For water-level contrast, the speedboat tours and jet ski tours show you the same skyline from the Gulf. After seeing the city from 240 meters, seeing it from 0 meters gives you a completely different appreciation of its scale.
The Museum of the Future on Sheikh Zayed Road is visible from Sky Views — you can spot its distinctive torus shape. Visit it after your observation deck for a different kind of elevation experience.
